The information is being communicated to the Commercial Attaché here. Enclosure: Translation.
(1) In June 1944, 500 Kgs. gold in bars were brought into Switzerland from Zagreb by the Swiss National Bank and deposited for the account of the Croatian State Bank.
The gold is of German origin and marked with German stamps
(2) In another account, the Croatian State Bank possesses a credit of 2.5 million francs with the Swiss National Bank
In the beginning of November, a confidant of the
Ustaschi from Zagreb, ERESCH, came to Switzerland, and
Desired to transport the gold and the 2.5 million francs
back to Zagreb. This was not successful, as something
was not in order with the signatures on the checks
presented by Eresch. The presence of the Vice President,
Engineer MEHMEDAGIC, of the Croatian Bank, is necessary
to settle the matter. The Croatian Commercial Delegation
in Zurich is, therefore, endeavoring to obtain a Swiss
entry permit for Engineer Mehmedagic; up to date, however
without success.
For the present, the entry into Switzerland of Engineer Mehmedagic should be prevented.
